Biography
Ilaria Brentari holds a PhD (Doctor Europaeus) in Biomolecular Sciences pursued at the University of Trento in the lab of Prof. Michela Denti. During her Master’s training, she completed an Erasmus research period at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität – Munich to strengthen her neuroscience background, followed by a research associate position at LMU.
Her post-doctoral research focuses on RNA therapeutics for Frontotemporal Dementia with Parkinsonism linked to chromosome 17 (FTDP-17), with particular emphasis on developing isoform-specific siRNA strategies targeting the pathogenic 4R tau isoform using hiPSC-derived neuronal models. In parallel, she is involved in projects aimed at the early diagnosis of FTD through the identification of miRNA biomarkers, as well as the implementation of novel technologies for small RNA detection for diagnostic and disease monitoring purposes.
