In this talk, Daniel will introduce himself as one of the two newest trainee representatives on the OTS Board of Directors by sharing a brief introduction to his research before moving into his ALS advocacy work. After being personally affected by ALS, Daniel will share how this personal connection shaped his journey into research and advocacy from the community level to the national level. He’ll discuss his unique perspective on navigating ALS from both a lived and professional perspective and how this will guide his decisions, both personally and professionally, moving forward.

Title: From Bench to Board: A Trainee’s Journey in RNA Therapeutics and OTS

Description:

In this seminar, Ilaria Brentari will share her journey as an early-career scientist working at the intersection of RNA therapeutics and neurodegenerative disease. She will present her research on isoform-specific siRNA strategies targeting tau pathology in FTDP-17, highlighting both the scientific challenges and translational potential of RNA-based approaches. Beyond the science, the talk will reflect on the role of scientific societies in trainee development and community building. The seminar will conclude with her perspective on fostering engagement, visibility, and connection within the Oligonucleotide Therapeutics Society as a trainee representative.
